Nope. To make a mean espresso, you need the equivalent of a manual gearbox. A lever.
Hand pulled. Hands down.
There are also automatic machines, which have electric pumps. Those can also be very very good, just like automatics in cars. However, a lever is almost by definition good.
Superautomatic espresso machines also exist. They require no input, except occasionally pressing a button. The automotive equivalent would be public transport.

I remember one like that they did at the previous Tokyo show in 2011, called the FC Showcase Concept. There was a side-view image that made me think it should be a video player skin.
